Epsom Salt and Essential Oils- A Winning Bath Ritual

Epsom salt is all the rage now in bath and aromatherapy and it’s easy to see why. It’s fantastic for personal use, home use, and garden use is also good for a long list of remedies, for all sorts of ailments. What exactly is Epsom? In reality, it’s not actually a salt. Epsom salts, chemically known as magnesium sulfate – are named after the spring in Surrey, England where the naturally-occurring mineral was discovered in the water.

According to Salworks.us (www.saltworks.us/salt_info/epsom-uses- benefits.asp),“Studies have shown that magnesium and sulfate are both readily absorbed through the skin, making Epsom salt baths an easy and ideal way to enjoy the amazing health benefits (*1). Magnesium plays a number of roles in the body including regulating the activity of over 325 enzymes, reducing inflammation, helping muscle and nerve function and helping to prevent artery hardening. Sulfates help improve the absorption of nutrients, flush toxins and help ease migraine headaches.”

Paired with essential oils, it’s the perfect combination for a great aromatherapy bath with a long list of benefits such as relieving stress, reducing inflammation, alleviating pain and muscle cramps, flushing out toxins, just to name a few.
