One of our favourite ways to utilise our essential oils other than diffusing them using BellaSentials aromatherapy diffuser is to use them for household cleaning! It’s absolutely the best way to get rid of foul and stale smells while killing bacteria without chemicals and other harmful additives that you might get from store bought cleaning aids. If you are on the lookout for ways to lessen chemicals in your household, then this blog post is for you. We have compiled the best cleaning ideas and recipes using essential oils. Here’s the list:
1. Easy Toilet Cleaner
“Add 2 teaspoons tea tree oil and 2 cups water to a spray bottle. Shake, then spritz along the toilet’s inside rim. Let sit for 30 minutes; scrub. You can also place a few drops of your favorite oil on the inside of the toilet paper tube. “Every time the paper is used, the scent will be released,” says Siegel-Maier.”
2. Degrease using Orange Essential Oil
“Not only does orange oil have a happy scent, but, like lemon, it’s great against grease. Use 1-2 drops to lift grease or glue from surfaces or combine 12 drops with 1/4 cup castile soap and water to wipe down stovetops and counters.”
3. Anti Mold and Musty Smell Spray
“Made from the Australian Melaleuca tree, tea tree essential oil offers antibacterial, antiseptic and antifungal properties. It works especially well to get rid of mildew and mold around the house. Simply mix two teaspoons tea tree oil with two cups water in a spray bottle. Then spritz the mixture on moldy or mildewy areas, like showers. Don’t rinse off the mixture. Let it work away at those yucky substances. You can also use this spray anywhere that has a musty smell.
