There are more than 90 essential oils, and each has its own health benefits and healing properties. Most essential oils blend well with other essential oils in terms of function and odor, which result in a large selection of aromatic essential oil combinations.
Due to the numerous health benefits of essential oils, they are increasingly being explored by the scientific community for the treatment of a variety of diseases including cancer, HIV, asthma, bronchitis, heart strokes, and many more.
But where do you start? Which oil is best for you, and how can these health-giving oils help you with everyday problems such as stress, anxiety, insomnia…just to name a few?
Before we dive into a list of essential oils that are currently being widely used or researched, let’s take a quick look into the various diffusers available. Not all diffusers are created equal and some work much better than others.
There are several different types of diffusers:
- Nebulizer Diffusers
- Ultrasonic/Humidifying Diffusers
- Heat Diffusers
- Evaporative Diffusers
Heat diffusers essentially use heat to ‘burn’ the essential oils, much like a scented candle. The problem with this method of diffusing is that the healing properties of the oils are basically burned up, rendering them almost useless.
Nebulizing diffusers are fantastic, however they are typically rather loud, making it difficult to use this type of diffuser for sleep.
Vaporising diffusers spray a thin mist into the air along with the essential oil properties, suspending them in the air for longer. However, one cannot typically diffuse citrus oils with this type of diffuser. That is why we created the BellaSentials premium diffuser. As current, we are the only premium diffuser on the market that can also diffuse citrus oils. This fantastic diffuser also doubles as a humidifier in the winter months.
While this method of diffusion works well at getting the scent of the oil into the room, anytime an essential oil evaporates, some of the lighter, or more volatile, components of the oil tend to evaporate much faster than the heavier and less volatile components. This means that instead of getting the whole oil all at once, you are getting a higher percentage of the lighter components at the beginning of the process and a higher percentage of the heavier components towards the end of the process. You can see how this would not typically be your most ideal solution.
So let’s get back to talking about the health benefits of diffusing essential oils.
Clearer skin, better sleep, reduced stress, apatite stimulants or suppressors, fresher and cleaner air, pain relief, just to name a few of the medicinal benefits these health giving oil provide. There is an oil for almost every health ailment you face. The air we breathe plays a large part in our overall wellbeing. You want to choose an essential oil that is right for you.
